Gypsum Moisture

Moisture Content Plays Into Quality

Gypsum moisture varies depending on the source of its deposit (e.g., sea water, volcanic vapors, industrial byproduct, etc.) and the requirement of its final application or product (e.g., agricultural soil amendment, gypsum wall board, concrete, etc.). Because mined and industrially produced gypsum are both water soluble, gypsum’s moisture content must be monitored and controlled during the production process to ensure its usability.

To monitor and measure gypsum moisture in the industrial environment, MoistTech developed, with the input of our mineral industry partners, the IR-3000 near infrared (NIR) online moisture transmitter. Capable of capturing thousands of measurements per second, the IR-3000 allows you to not only monitor the moisture content of gypsum, but also control it, by adjusting the production process, in real time. The IR-3000’s sensor provides instant, non-contact measurements of nearly any product or raw material. It is unsurpassed in the industry for quality, performance, and reliability.

The moisture content information captured for 100% of the product by the IR-3000 allows you to monitor and control gypsum moisture, in real time for

    • Less waste
    • Less downtime
    • Lower energy costs
    • Improved product quality

PERFORMANCE

Unsurpassed in performance, our sensors can accurately measure  moisture within tenths of a percent of most applications

STABILITY

MoistTech sensors withstand the test of time and are low to zero maintenance

RELIABILITY

Rely on MoistTech’s NIR moisture sensors to never drift or need re-calibration

COST OF OWNERSHIP

A moisture measurement system is essential for the production process and in some cases will pay for itself in less than 30 days

Installing Success

Because the IR-3000 instrument is insensitive to product temperature, ambient light, or ambient temperature, it can be installed exactly where necessary in your production process to measure gypsum moisture. Recommended installation locations include above the conveyor, in storage bins, or in chutes. Continuous automatic or manual instantaneous readings are possible by using the industry’s most advanced software.

MoistTech understands the industrial environment. With more than 40 years of experience in the field, MoistTech developed the IR-3000 to withstand extraordinarily harsh conditions. The unit will continue accurate measurements despite extreme dust, the presence of foreign objects, or even gaps in the production line. The rugged components will remain reliable and outperform the competition throughout the lifetime of the unit.

What is the Solution?

MoistTech has studied moisture and its applications in manufacturing for over 40 years. That’s why we’re confident our moisture analyzers are a step above the rest. We’re constantly working to develop the latest, most advanced moisture testing technology—which is how the IR-3000 came about.

We’ve combined our decades of experience and knowledge with feedback from our industry partners to create a moisture sensor capable of taking instant, non-contact measurements of moisture, temperature, and other vital levels with the utmost accuracy. When it comes to moisture sensors, the IR-3000 is the most advanced system available.

Assess

Locate the point in the production process in which measuring moisture will be the most crucial and beneficial. Identify how you will use the moisture measurement data for improvements and if it will tie into your PLC.

Remember this could involve more than one installation point!

Develop

A closed loop process is achieved by incorporating a moisture measurement system into the manufacturing process. Developing a proactive solution to moisture control will avoid costly downfalls.

Support

MoistTech’s experts will assess your specific application with lab tests, calibrations and accuracy results to ensure our equipment will peform for you. All of our sensors are pre-calibrated prior to being shipped to create a plug-and-play operation for the end-user.
