Palm Fruit Moisture - Testing, Measurement and Control
Palm
oil is a form of edible vegetable oil obtained from the fruit of the oil
palm tree.
The oil palm fruit
is the source of both palm oil (extracted from the fruit's fleshy part)
and palm kernel oil (extracted from the fruit's seeds or kernels).
Previously the second most widely produced
edible oil, after soybean oil, 28 million metric tons of palm oil were
produced worldwide in 2004. It may have now surpassed soybean oil
as the most widely produced vegetable oil in the world.
Moisture
and Oil Content:
Determining the accurate amount of both
the oil palm fruit moisture and oil levels in palm pulp is a really critical
measurement for growers. That is because the oil palm fruit moisture
and oil content determines how much growers are paid for their crop.
With the help of industry partners and
30 years of knowledge and experience, MoistTech has developed the IR-3000
Oil Palm Fruit Moisture Sensor which are both ideally suited
to measure oil palm fruit moisture and oil levels in the fruit and palm
pulp.

Oil Palm Fruit Moisture Sensor is ideal for the laboratory and/or
can even be located at the delivery entrance to provide measurements.
Samples can be prepared as they come in and be analyzed in a sample dish
with instantaneous readings. MoistTech can provide a printer output
as well as a computer interface for data logging.
The IR-3000 sensor is ideal to measure
oil palm fruit moisture and oil on-line after the decanter / centrifuge.
With the addition of MoistTech’s sampler system, a palm pulp sample can
be measured and returned to the product stream.

MoistTech is very experienced with oil
palm fruit and palm pulp processing. Our sensor calibrations, measurement
wavelengths, algorithms and sensor optical requirements are pre-set at
the factory. Typical accuracy is about ±0.2% moisture.
