Acetate Moisture
Moisture Testing Benefits
Automated process control is a key goal in numerous chemical powder and bulk solids processes, and one way to achieve this is through the use of in-process non-contact moisture measurements. By effectively controlling the moisture content in chemicals, significant enhancements in process profitability can be achieved. This includes producing a more consistent product that is manufactured closer to the maximum production limits, while also reducing energy consumption and factory emissions. Our team has developed specially engineered measurements that cater to these complex processes and many others.
Accuracy is typically about ±0.1% moisture. Typical analog range is 5–15% moisture. The outputs can be adjusted to optimize PLC or recording requirements. The acetate’s loose particles don’t create a long-lasting problem, but in dusty environments, we recommend installing the air purge system. The air purge system prohibits dust from building up on the sensor’s window.
Cellulose acetate tow is a synthetic fiber produced by extruding cellulose acetate flake. In contrast to traditional plastics, it does not rely on fossil fuels. Both cellulose acetate tow and cellulose acetate polymer are derived from cellulose, which is the most prevalent biopolymer globally and is sourced from renewable non-food materials.

MoistTech Provides a Solution
MoistTech’s sensor calibrations, measurement wavelengths, algorithms and sensor optical requirements are pre-set at the factory. Typical accuracy is about ±0.2% moisture. Typical analog range is 0-75% moisture. The outputs can be adjusted to optimize PLC or recording requirements.
MoistTech has studied moisture and its applications in manufacturing for over 40 years. That’s why we’re confident our moisture analyzers are a step above the rest. We’re constantly working to develop the latest, most advanced moisture testing technology—which is how the IR-3000 came about.
Installation
By mounting the bioethanol moisture transmitter 4-12 inches above the conveyor or on a pipeline will allow the user to continuously monitor the process and can control the moisture content either manually or automatically.
