Overview
Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB) is a versatile resin widely used for strong binding applications requiring optical clarity, toughness, flexibility, and adhesion.
Maintaining precise moisture levels in PVB during production is crucial to ensuring consistent quality and performance. MoistTech’s IR-3000 series sensor provides real-time, non-contact, and highly accurate moisture measurements, enabling manufacturers to optimize drying, laminating, and coating processes while reducing waste and energy consumption.

RECOMMENDED MEASUREMENT LOCATIONS
1. PVB Film & Lamination:
Excessive moisture during lamination can compromise the adhesion and clarity of laminated glass. The IR-3000 sensor measures moisture in raw film before lamination and after glass completion, allowing instant feedback. By passing the laminated product through the NIR sensor, manufacturers can achieve precise ppm-level moisture detection, improving product quality and consistency.
2. Plastic Pellets
Controlling PVB plastic pellet moisture during production ensures product integrity and accurate pricing. Because product weight is moisture-dependent, real-time monitoring prevents overpayment and ensures material uniformity. Maintaining ideal pellet moisture levels also enhances drying efficiency and improves downstream molding or extrusion performance.
3. Sheet Production
In PVB sheet manufacturing, maintaining optimal moisture levels ensures proper bonding between resin and substrate. Without tight moisture control, sheets can delaminate or lose clarity, resulting in scrap material and lost profits. The IR-3000 provides immediate feedback to line operators for real-time adjustments.
