Overview
Water-based adhesives are widely used across packaging, converting, woodworking, laminating, paper products, textiles, and a variety of industrial bonding applications. Because these adhesives rely on water as the carrier, accurate control of coat weight is essential for product performance, cost efficiency, and process reliability.
MoistTech’s IR-3000 Series provides precise, non-contact, instantaneous measurement of both moisture and coat weight, allowing manufacturers to maintain strict quality tolerances and achieve maximum production efficiency.
Why Measure Moisture
Accurate, real-time moisture monitoring delivers multiple process and product benefits.
Quality Assurance
Energy Efficiency
Reduce Waste
Process Stability
RECOMMENDED MEASUREMENT LOCATIONS
Pre-Coater / Infeed
Confirms the substrate is within the required moisture range prior to adhesive application.
Post-Coater (Wet Coat)
Ensures the adhesive application head, whether roller, slot die, gravure, rod, or blade, is applying the correct amount.
Pre-Dryer / Oven Entry
Allows verification of uniform coat weight before exposure to heat.
Post-Dryer / Final Moisture
Ensures the adhesive is properly dried or cured before lamination, cutting, or rewinding.
The IR-3000 can be mounted 6–14 inches above the web and provides coating thickness accuracy of 0.1–0.01 micron with moisture accuracy of ±0.05%.
Understand the Process
Having the precise moisture levels of paper products in converting operations, newsprint, tissue and corrugated liner pulp has become a critical component during production. Paper can easily become either too wet or too dry wasting manufacturers time or money. With the help of industry partners and 30 years of knowledge, MoistTech has developed the IR 3000 moisture sensor which is ideally suited to measure the moisture levels as well as water and solvent based coatings and coat weight thicknesses during the paper/converting process, improving manufactures product quality and increased productivity within substantial cost savings.
