The Problem with Finding Moisture Issues After the Fact

Moisture affects more than a number on a quality report.

For food processors, it can influence taste, texture, consistency, yield, shelf life, and product weight. For paperboard and corrugated manufacturers, moisture can affect strength, bonding, warping, and converting performance.

The challenge is knowing when those moisture levels start to change.

Traditional grab samples and laboratory testing provide useful information, but they’re inherently reactive. A sample is taken, tested, and the result comes back later. Meanwhile, production keeps moving.

If the process has drifted outside the specification, you’ve already made a product under those conditions.

The IR-3000 changes that equation by moving moisture measurement directly onto the production line. Operators can see moisture levels continuously and respond to changes as they’re happening, not after the fact.

How the IR-3000 Measures Moisture

The MoistTech IR-3000 uses near-infrared (NIR) technology to measure moisture continuously without coming into contact with the product.

Mounted above the production stream, the sensor takes instantaneous readings while production continues uninterrupted. There are no samples to pull and no need to stop the line to get a measurement.

The IR-3000 is used across applications including snack foods, baked goods, grains, paperboard, and corrugated box production, giving operators immediate feedback they can use to maintain tighter moisture control.

For facilities running multiple products, the sensor can store up to 50 product calibrations. Each system is also pre-calibrated using customer samples to help simplify setup and installation.
