Is Moisture Content Essential?
Because only barium ferrites are considered stable to moisture, it is critical that ferrite powder moisture be measured, monitored, and controlled in the industrial environment. When the moisture content of the oxide mixture is reduced prior to the powder being pressed into shape, the drying time and energy costs can be optimized.
Metal oxides, metal hydroxides, and various raw materials used in the production of ferrite are blended together, formed into pellets (preliminary granulation), and subsequently oxidized through initial calcination (preliminary sintering) within the temperature range of 800–1000 °C. The resultant preliminarily sintered product is later combined with water and finely ground (slurried).
After wet grinding, the slurry is dried up in the oven. Granules are meticulously crafted from this exquisite, blended, and desiccated ferrite powder, either manually or through a spray drier. Pressing and sintering are the final steps in the process, in which moisture is an essential factor to track.
