Utilizing Near-Infrared (NIR) technology allows MoistTech to provide the best solution for moisture control as it provides an instant measurement without coming into contact with the product.

The 828 model is built to be unaffected by differences in particle size, material height and color, making it the most accurate tobacco sesnor on the market. Providing continuous, reliable readings with only a one time calibration, running maintenance free, and built with a drift free optical design allows operating personnel to immediatly initialize process adjustments based on real-time data. Precision filters and algorithms have been incorporated to optimize performance under the demanding conditions in tobacco processing.

MoistTech has incorporated it’s product loss software capability into the sensor to make small gaps in product, inert material, foreign objects, and belt or screw conveyor measurements are removed from the overall calculation to providing the most accurate and true moisture reading.

Model 828 Installation Locations

Each sensor is equipped with a bracket that can be used to install the sensor from the back or the top. It is recommended to mount the moisture gauge 4-16” (inches) from the product.

Model 828 Communications

Setting up and communicating with the sensor is easy and can be done with a laptop computer and comes standard with ethernet TCP/IP connection. Utilizing a PC based touch screen operator interface and plant wide network by RS232/422/485. Each MoistTech sensor comes standard with the management software needed to operate the sensor and contains unlimited licensing capabilities, giving you the option to display the moisture in as many places as needed.

Model 828 Applications

MoistTech’s NIR analyzer, the model 828 tobacco moisture gauge, is used for on-line tobacco moisture analysis at all locations in tobacco leaf and primary processing. The table below lists the applications and typical range for each tobacco moisture measurement. The accuracy that can be achieved depends on the sampling and testing methods. Whole leaf and strip tobacco will have higher sampling errors than cut finished tobacco due to the variability of the material.
