Hydrated Lime Moisture

Proper Moisture Measurement

Hydrated lime is a soft, white, crystalline, very slightly water-soluble powder, obtained by the action of water on lime: the hydration process is referred to as slaked lime. The moisture content is used to control the water addition to ensure moisture content is optimized but doesn’t exceed the set limit.

Hydrated lime has multiple uses including building materials, civil engineering, the chemical industry, agriculture, drinking water treatment and sewage treatment. The angle of repose for hydrated lime varies considerably with moisture content. Too much moisture can cause the product to clump, causing blockages in slaked lime and difficulty in loading and transporting material.

No Recalibrations

We’ve mastered the art of moisture sensors – your unit will never need to be recalibrated for the same product twice!

Unlike the Competition

MoistTech’s IR3000 series sensor is designed to detect moisture levels that exceed the maximum levels of 1.5-3%. Moisture content that is too high will cause an unusable product as the lime will not flow properly and the purchaser is paying for the excess moisture weight.

Unlike other instrumentation of this type, some of the unique features of the IR3000 is that it can monitor the product even with small gaps in product flow and is unaffected by ambient light without impacting the accuracy. The IR3000 is also ideal for installations on chain conveyors and screw conveyors. The MoistTech IR3000 gauge is positioned at the exit of the lime slaker, 4-12 inches above the hydrated lime.

MoistTech is the Answer

We’ve combined our decades of experience and knowledge with feedback from our industry partners to create a moisture sensor capable of taking instant, non-contact measurements of moisture, temperature, and other vital levels with the utmost accuracy. When it comes to moisture sensors, the IR-3000 is the most advanced system available.

Assess

Locate the point in the production process in which measuring moisture will be the most crucial and beneficial. Identify how you will use the moisture measurement data for improvements and if it will tie into your PLC.

Remember this could involve more than one installation point!

Develop

A closed loop process is achieved by incorporating a moisture measurement system into the manufacturing process. Developing a proactive solution to moisture control will avoid costly downfalls.

Support

MoistTech’s experts will assess your specific application with lab tests, calibrations and accuracy results to ensure our equipment will perform for you. All of our sensors are pre-calibrated prior to being shipped to create a plug-and-play operation for the end-user.
