The final quality of powder coatings is not completely dictated by coating thickness; several factors affect product quality. Powder coating moisture, as just one example, must be controlled to ensure not only product quality but also production efficiency.

Excessive moisture content in powders may result in product spoilage, shorter shelf life, and weakened structural integrity. It can also influence the flow properties of bulk solids and impact process efficiency (poor discharge from hopper, challenging mixing). Conversely, lower-than-anticipated moisture levels can also have adverse effects, such as hindering powder binding and disrupting the manufacturing process.

By controlling powder coatings’ moisture, manufacturers can eliminate time-consuming and costly inefficiencies during production.
