Cotton and linen, due to their brittleness, require processing at elevated levels of approximately 3-4%. By incorporating humidity into every stage of the manufacturing process, starting from the combing of the raw material, through carding, twisting, spinning, and weaving, the manufacturer can guarantee the flexibility and durability of the final product, effectively preventing any breakage. This is important since the longer the fiber, the finer the thread that can be spun.

Wool is also vulnerable to dry air, although it is slightly more tolerant and needs humidity levels of approximately 3%. Similarly, man-made fibers necessitate the appropriate, albeit lower, humidity level as they become susceptible to static electricity buildup when the humidity drops below 2-2.5%. Silk, on the other hand, should be handled at a humidity range of 3-4%, while artificial silk spinning requires a higher humidity level of around 4%.
