Fiberboard Moisture

Ensure Production Quality

Fiberboard is a low-density insulation board used for housing, roofing, and office furnishings. The general steps in the production of fiberboard manufacture include pulping of hardwood or softwood wood chips, wet forming, drying, and finishing. Fiberboard may be manufactured with bagasse or other agricultural fiber instead of wood fiber.

Moisture measurement plays a large role in each of these steps to ensure there is no waste or rework.

Fiberboard products undergo different manufacturing processes. Dry processing includes forming and pressing dry mats, while wet processing involves forming and pressing wet mats. Wet/dry processing combines wet forming with dry pressing. Resin is utilized in the production of wet hardboard and dry hardboard. However, resin is not utilized in the manufacturing of wet/dry hardboard or wet fiberboard.

Optimize Quality Control Now!

non-contact

Our equipment never comes into contact with the product, allowing for less waste

zero drift

Our sensors are guaranteed not to drift over time – which saves time and money

closed loop

Create a closed-loop process by tying a moisture sensor into your PLC. Full control over the line!

no recalibrations

We’ve mastered the art of moisture sensors – your unit will never need to be recalibrated for the same product twice!

Why Measure Fiber Board Moisture Content?

Proper moisture levels play a crucial role in the production of fiber board, as they directly impact the strength and longevity of the board. The distribution of moisture also influences the surface quality of the board.

  • Our sensors are maintenance-free after the first calibration
  • Non-drift optical design
  • Real-time measurements allowing for immediate adjustments
  • Reduced energy costs
  • Sensors can be mounted above the conveyor belt
  • Material variations do not affect the sensors

Assess

Locate the point in the production process in which measuring fiber board moisture will be the most crucial and beneficial. Identify how you will use the moisture measurement data for improvements and if it will tie into your PLC. Remember this could involve more than one installation point!
